The BADU Café officially opened it's doors in February 2023. The launch party celebration was opened by Mr Badu and his team, welcoming special guest visitors; BADU Community members and all of those that have supported the journey of the Café from when it was just an idea on paper right through to it's first serving of the smoothest cappuccino. Light refreshments were served and everyone got to hear from the team responsible for bringing it all together.
As a result of the clear disparities in access to digital equipment; software and data, BADU collaborated with SKY to open the BADU Digital hub. Launch night was filled with entertainment; great food from Caribbean food caterers Juicy Jerk and stunning views across the Olympic Park. Special thanks to INCA productions for coordinating the event ensuring that guests were able to embrace this incredible new space for the community.
Every year in the build up to Christmas, BADU work alongside schools and other non-profit organisations to deliver a Christmas hamper to families facing the pressures and challenges of Christmas time. That moment When 2022 was another great success and BADU pulled in another great cohort of volunteers from grass roots community initiatives to large corporate banks. Everyone involved walked away feeling a real sense of community and support.

Two BADU mentees had the opportunity of a life time to meet the one and only Sir Lewis Hamilton, in the build up to the British Grand Prix. Their conversation was broadcasted to millions on Sky Sports F1 before the race. It was a great conversation and insight into what Lewis had to say about his career so far, inclusivity in F1, his commitment to supporting the next generation and more!
This year we are hoping to open our much anticipated Centre of Excellence. The centre will be an elite level sports facility that highlights female leadership in coaching and participation. The BADU mentoring group were invited to the headquarters in Woking to meet and have a Q&A session with McLaren CEO Zak Brown and Sky Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, UK & Europe Stephen van Rooyen. Here at BADU the talents of our young people are endless. In 2019, Nike presented a group of our young leaders with the task of creating the artwork and t-shirt design for the 2020 Hackney Moves Festival. Unfortunately, the festival had to be postponed due to covid, but we were so proud to finally be able to have their work displayed on the official finishers t-shirts for Hackney Moves 2021.
